While staying at our crashpad, you can explore the surrounding areas and learn more about Austin. It’s a popular tourist destination, and there’s so much to explore out here. Whether you’re here with family or own your own, here are some places to visit:
Zilker Metropolitan Park
Zilker Metropolitan Park is one of the most popular green spaces in Austin. This sprawling 351-acre park is the most popular recreation area here. It’s located alongside Lady Bird Lake and has grassy areas that make for ideal picnic spots. Spending a weekend here on a sunny day is nothing less than amazing! The park has riverside walking trails, volleyball courts, and a disc golf course, too, if you’re looking for fun things to do here. And if you’re traveling with kids, the Playscape here is a large playground with miniature trains that run along the water’s edge. Adults can indulge in some water recreation too by renting boats or canoes.
Lady Bird Lake
This lake is named after the wife of President Lyndon Johnson and is a flowing reservoir that covers 416 acres. It’s a popular tourist spot and is just breathtaking. The main pedestrian path along the lake is the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike trail and Pedestrian bridge. Spend a day here cycling or hiking for a fun and active day outdoors.
University of Texas attractions
The University of Texas is the first university to be set up in the state of Texas and is, therefore, home to many tourist attractions too. The Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art hosts many exhibits every year and has an amazing collection of European, Latin American, and American art.
The Harry Ransom Center here is home to rare texts, literature, and printed materials. This center hosts many exhibits that attract people from nearby areas. The most popular piece here is the Gutenberg Bible that dates back to the 15th century.
Barton Springs Pool
If you’re in Austin during summer, you need to take a dip at the Barton Springs Pool. This pool has an average temperature of 70° F and is perfect on a warm day. The pool covers an area of 3 acres, and the water is 18 feet deep. If you’re lucky, you might spot the endangered Barton Springs Salamander here too.
