Many people don’t realize how many people they come in contact with daily. When you’re moving into a new area, it means that you’ve sat on a train or an airplane and touched your luggage that has come in direct and indirect contact with other people.
As military personnel, getting sick is the last thing you want to go through amidst the pandemic. Therefore, if you’re shifting to a new crashpad, here are 4 tips you must keep in mind to stay safe and healthy.
1. No Germs in Your Room
While traveling, you come in contact with more germs than you think. Therefore, ensure that you don’t bring those germs with you to your bed. To do that, ensure that you remove your shoes at the entrance of your room. It will keep germs and dirt away from your bed. As an added precaution, you can carry an anti-bacterial spray or wipes that you can use on your shoes and bedside tables.
2. Disinfect Your Luggage
Don’t forget to disinfect your luggage.
Unpacking your suitcase on your bed is the worst thing that you can do. It’s because your suitcases have come in contact with multiple people and surfaces during transportation. Therefore, disinfect your suitcase’s body, handles, and wheels.
For added safety, unpack your luggage on the floor or in the bathroom to minimize germ transfer.
3. Pull the Sheets
The best way to ensure that germs don’t get to you is to pull back your bedsheets. This way, you can ensure that your pillows and sheets are clean. You can also check the bottom of the mattress for bedbugs.
Moreover, know that doorknobs, phones, and remotes are three of the germiest places in temporary lodging, so use disinfectants for them.
4. Employ Safe Practices
Make sure that you’re a good resident and a citizen. Maintain your distance with people at all times, avoid overcrowding, wash your hands, and use a mask to cover your face if you feel sick. Be courteous toward others with safe practices.
